User Management

Overview

Assistant Engine provides all necessary tools to manage users across different access levels, ensuring a secure and efficient workspace. The platform supports structured role assignments and groups to maintain clarity and accountability.

This section is limited to the project Admin(s) and won’t show for other users (builder, user).

Steps to Manage Users

1. Adding Users

(Only) Admins can invite new users to a project by using their email addresses.

2. Assigning Roles

Roles define the level of access to assistants, data, and permissions within the platform. These roles can be assigned when inviting a new user or modified later as needed.

Ownership Role

In addition to project-specific roles, there is a General Owner role for the Assistant Engine integration at the company level. This role is:

Automatically assigned to the person who initially signs up for Assistant Engine and selects the subscription plan.

Responsible for project creation and ensuring Admins for each project are assigned explicitly rather than automatically gaining access to all projects.

Ownership transfer is currently available only upon request via our contact form.

Project Roles

The following recurring roles exist for managing individual:

Admin

The Admin role provides full control over the project. Admins can manage team members (invite, remove, and assign roles), connect and configure data sources and their access rights, and oversee billing and subscription details. They ensure smooth operation and governance within the platform.

Builder

Builders are responsible for creating and managing assistants. They have the ability to design private, team-wide and company assistants based on data access defined by the admin, share them and customize functionalities to suit the company’s needs. This role bridges technical setup and operational execution making them the power users of Assistant Engine.

User

Users can interact with set up assistants that fit their data access rights. Their permissions are more limited, focusing on utilizing tools and features rather than managing or configuring them.

3. Managing Groups

Users can be grouped by team or department to streamline permissions. This is especially useful for restricting access to sensitive assistants or data to specific groups.
